David Sherbrook is an independent writer, director and producer hailing from Farmington Hills, Michigan. He began his journey to the west coast in 2005, when his passion for film drove him to pursue his dream in the great city of Los Angeles.
He has always been an avid fan of horror films, ever since his introduction at the age of 10 to Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining”. As he grew older and discovered the vast world of horror lying just beneath the surface of mainstream society, he realized that making horror films in the tradition of his favorites was what he was destined to do.
In high school, David was an integral member of TV-10, a student run television station at North Farmington High School, where he was the editor, CG supervisor and director for their weekly news program, “Live at :45”. He also created and starred in his own segment titled “Restaurant Review”, which has survived his tenure and is still going on to this day. His first experience with filmmaking came as a result of TV-10, when he and his classmates wrote, directed and produced a vampire short titled “Center of Evil”.
After high school David went on to study film at Columbia College Chicago, where he spent one semester in 2004. Realizing that Chicago was not the place to be while pursuing his film career, he ventured west and moved to Los Angeles to attend Columbia College Hollywood, where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree. While there, he took part in a number of film and TV productions, starting with “The Drawer”, where he met fellow members of Infested Films Scott Dawson and Tyson Gilmore. He also worked on a number of his fellow student’s projects in various capacities, including “Red Pool” and Patrick Merrick’s films “Handfuls of Dust” and “Sallow Creatures”.
His first venture into writing and directing his own material came with his body horror short, “It’ll Clear Up By Morning”, which shot in 2006. Since then he has been avidly involved in filmmaking, working on his own scripts as well as helping his fellow colleagues make their films. He has worked as a production assistant, boom operator, script supervisor, cameraman and editor on various projects throughout his career.
Upon founding Infested Films, he began production on his second short film, “The Morning After”, which is currently in post-production and will be available shortly. Following the completion of principal photography on “The Morning After”, David got in touch with Troma’s Lloyd Kaufman to act in his next project, which has just wrapped production, titled “Theodore”.
